In 2004 the Short Shorts Film Festival was recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival in the short film categories for the annual Academy Awards®, and the festival continues to be the hub of short visual content in Japan. SSFF welcomed the year 2006, the 8th year for SSFF and the 3rd year for SSFFA.
